Join our 2k wild swim from Ferryside to Llansteffan and back across the River Towy estuary – encountering challenging tidal flows and currents, and raising money for charities and local good causes.
The event is planned meticulously to ensure swimmers’ safety, with a safety team that includes divers, kayaks, support vessels and the Ferryside inshore lifeboat.
Our charities and good causes
Ferryside Lifeboat is one of more than fifty lifeboats stationed around the British Isles that operate independently of the RNLI.
At Ferryside, like most lifeboats operating in the Bristol Channel, we have to cope with a large tidal range, the second largest tidal rise and fall in the world makes our waters some of the most hostile in the world.
Ferryside lifeboat is available 24 hours a day throughout the year and is staffed entirely by local volunteers. A smaller second lifeboat is also available
Men’s Sheds is a social group based in Ferryside providing a place for men to pursue their interests, develop new ones, belong to a unique group, feel useful, fulfilled and a sense of belonging.
The group addresses challenges to health and well being caused by social isolation and is based on the understanding that men are more likely to help themselves and attend something they have set up or have some control over. While they might struggle to talk face to face, men do talk shoulder to shoulder when engaged in some form of activity or shared task.
